Collect kitchen scraps - fruit and vegetable leavings - in this handsome countertop compost pot crafted by potter Barry Weiss. Handmade with stoneware clay and high-fired to 2300 degrees F, these individually designed pots are both beautiful and environmentally responsible. Each pot is unique, individually made, so there is some variation in capacity ( full gallon). Coloration and earth tone glazes will be similar to those shown in the photos. When full, empty contents on your outdoor compost pile and watch for the results. Good for your garden soil...and for Mother Earth. A great gift item, too! Â
The compost pot is microwave, dishwasher and oven safe. It has been fired to 2300 degrees, and can handle just about any temperature short of a direct flame on a stove burner.
Â
We use a biodegradable bag that we put in the compost pot. This makes it easy to empty. Just remove the bag and toss it on the compost pile. Mother Nature does the rest and we don't have to carry the compost pot to the pile.... I'm sure I'd drop it. Short of a biodegradable bag use a plastic bag from the food stores or a large baggie.   Here are some links with tons of  useful compost information: |
